Why Should You Join
When being asked to give up your hard-earned money for a membership, it only fair that you know what you will be getting.
Once a member, regardless of the membership plan you choose, you will receive a monthly issue of The Headstone, the cemetery newsletter. In those newsletters there will be a host of topics, including any activity at the cemetery, whether it be a field trip or just a work day. The history of Dutch Hollow and the surrounding area is shared, along with genealogical discoveries of those buried in Dutch Hollow and their descendants. Often the topics take the reader beyond the limits of Augusta County and even the State of Virginia. Each Issue is usually 6-12 pages in length. Members have access to download hard-to-find obituaries and marriage notices which have been archived on the site, and hundreds of files and photographs, many from private collections. But perhaps the greatest benefit will be knowing that all of your membership costs go directly to the upkeep of the cemetery, not administrative matters. No one is compensated for any of the non-profit work with the exception of contractors who may do work such as tree removal or gravel hauling for the cemetery lane. Even the mowing is done on a volunteer basis.
