Virginia Department of Energy Mines Map
This is not an all inclusive map of closed mines in Virginia but it does include both active and inactive sites, many dating back to the 1880s. This is an interactive site that provides the mine identifiers in the event you wish to follow up with the Bureau of Mines for more detailed information. The map is a product of the Virginia Department of Energy and there is a link that will access the home page where there are multiple links to mining resources.
